Edit your server settings

Everything you would normally set in server.properties lives on the Settings page, in plain language.

Opening Settings

Settings is one long page, grouped into sections. The bar at the top jumps you to the one you want.

The settings section bar

Common things to change

  • MOTD is the little tagline shown next to your server in the multiplayer list. Type your own, or click Generate to have one written for you.
  • Max players caps how many people can be on at once.
  • Difficulty sets Peaceful, Easy, Normal or Hard.
  • View distance controls how far players can see. Lower it if the server feels heavy.
  • Enable PVP turns player versus player combat on or off.

Saving

Change whatever you need, then click Save Settings at the top. Most settings apply the next time the server starts, so do a Restart afterwards to be sure they take effect.

The unsaved changes bar

Not sure what a setting does? Leave it on its default. The defaults are sensible for a normal survival server.
